Born in NEW YORK City, Trump graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968 . After becoming president of the family real estate business in 1971, Trump renamed it the Trump Organization and reoriented the company toward building and renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and courses. After a series of business failures in the late 1990s, he launched side ventures, mostly licensing the Trump name. From 2004 to 2015, he produced and hosted the reality television series The Apprentice . He and his businesses have been involved in more than 4,000 legal action, including six business bankruptcies.

Trump won the 2016 president election as the republic party nominee, defeating the Democratic party candidate, Hillary Clinton, while losing the popular vote, and became the first U.s president without prior military or government service. The Mueller investigation later determined that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump. His campaign positions were described as populist, protectionist, and nationalist. His election and policies sparked numerous protests and led to the creation of a political movement and a cult of personality. Trump promoted conspiracy theories and made many false and misleading statements during his campaigns and presidency, to a degree unprecedented in America politics, Many of his comments and actions have been characterized as racially charged, racist, and misogynistic.

Trump is the third president in U.S history (after Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998) to be impeaches by the U.S Hose of Representatives and the only president to be impeaches twice–once (in 2019) for abuse of power and obstruction of congress in connection with the Ukraine scandal and once (in 2021) for “incitement of insurrection” in connection with the January 6 attack on the U.S Capitol by a violent mob of Trump supporters. Both of Trump’s impeachments ended in his acquittal by the U.S. Senate. Trump ran for reelection in 2020 but lost to former vice president Joe Biden by an Electoral College vote of 306 to 232.

Starting in 1968, Trump was employed at his father’s real estate company, Trump Management , which owned racially segregated middle-class rental housing in New York City’s outer boroughs. in 1971, his father made him president of the company and he began using the Trump organization as an umbrella brand.
